Alejandro takes x-rays, cleans teeth, and gets patients ready for the doctors’ exam of their mouth. He says, “When you enjoy doing what you do, it’s not really even a job!”
Originally from the Honduras, Alejandro came to the U.S when he was 14 and now lives in Gahanna, OH. He says the best part of his job is working in a friendly atmosphere, interacting with children and their families, and making them smile.
Alejandro says, “I used to have very poor dental hygiene, from lack of knowledge – like many where I am from. Now I can share my knowledge to help others.” When he’s not helping patients improve their oral health, Alejandro is taking care of his own health and staying fit by playing soccer.
Amanda is responsible for patient care and education, and the placement of dental restorations when needed. “I feel like I’m a perfect fit for pediatric dentistry, because I care!” she says. “I believe in good quality dental care and instilling dental hygiene habits that will last a lifetime.
Originally from Fort Charlotte, FL, Amanda now lives in Worthington, OH. She is a graduate of the Ohio State University EFDA program, and continued her education in coronal polishing. “Dentistry chose me,” she says. “I was offered on the job training at a non-profit in Grand Rapids, MI, when I was 18 and fell in love with it.”
Amanda has two sons who enjoy skateboarding, baseball, and basketball, and she and her fiancé are expecting a third child in 2017. They enjoy outdoor living, camping, cooking out, and travel. “I love every minute of my busy days, both at home and here at HLS with my second family!”
Ashley also holds a coronal polishing certificate and an EFDA license, meaning she can place fillings, polish teeth, provide sealants, and take x-rays. “I had a lot of dental work growing up, and always asked a million questions!”
Ashley is from Newark, OH, and currently resides in Nashport, OH. She says she started her career as a junior in high school, attended a joint vocational school followed by EDFA training at Eastern Gateway Community College, and has always remained in the field. “I like helping kids get through their appointments quickly and have a great experience.”
Ashley enjoys helping her son with his homework, watching him play baseball, or hanging out with friends at the movies, shopping, or playing putt-putt golf.
For Hollie, working at Hines Little Smiles provides her with a great privilege: teaching kids about oral health. “I always loved my dentist when I was a kid!” she says, adding, “I try to make going to the dentist fun!”
Formerly from Columbus, Hollie now lives in Heath, OH. She completed the EFDA program at Ohio State, and has 9 years of experience in the field. “My boss is amazing, and it shines through the entire practice and all of the employees,” she comments. “The kids are definitely the best part of the job – they keep you on your toes, but I have the personality to keep up with them!”
When she’s not teaching oral health in a fun way, Hollie can be found enjoying leisure time with her husband, Nick, and the couple’s infant son. They all enjoy being outdoors with the family’s two fur babies in tow, and Hollie says they love travelling as well.
Kristi provides x-rays, cleanings, fluoride, and sealants to patients as well as educating them on a healthy at home oral hygiene regimen and a healthy lifestyle and diet for good dental health. “I love helping others and working on teeth,” she says.
Kristi recently relocated from Dayton, OH, to Columbus, OH. She holds an Associate’s Degree in Dental Hygiene. She says the most impressive thing about the practice is the outreach they do to provide dental care for uninsured and under privileged patients. “I love being around children and teaching them healthy dental habits for life!”
When she’s not ensuring kids have healthy smiles, Kristi is hanging out with her husband and her golden retriever Ki-Ann. She enjoys outdoor activities such as kayaking, hiking, and riding a Jet Ski or motorcycle.
Macyn assists with sterilization of instruments, trays, and rooms, and takes x-rays to help guide the dentists. She says, “I want to help people be happy with their appearance!”
A Baltimore, OH native, Macyn settled on her career track in high school, graduating from a 2-year dental assisting program at Eastland Career Center. “I adore kids, and like things neat and orderly, so my job is an ideal one for me!” she says.
Macyn was part of the Skills USA and Diversity Club at her school. She says being part of Hines Little Smiles is more like being part of a family than just part a team.
Renajia stays extremely busy in the practice. She takes and processes dental radiographs, applies dental sealants and fluoride treatments, provides oral hygiene instruction, and coaches patients on nutrition and how what they eat impacts their dental and overall health. “I love our kid friendly atmosphere!”
Originally from Toledo, OH, Renajia now lives in Blacklick, OH. She has a Bachelor’s Degree of Science in Dental Hygiene, and a Master’s Degree in Dental Hygiene from Ohio State University. “I love helping people, and chose dental hygiene over nursing as a better fit for me,” she says.
When she’s not giving kids better smiles, Renajia can be found spending time with her husband Michael and their daughter Makhlei. The couple is expecting another child in 2017. She is also very involved with the family’s church.
Renada is always busy, whether she’s on laboratory duty, helping with patient care, chair side, taking x-rays, or completing coronal polishing. “I have a fascination with teeth, and love seeing my patients get through their appointment and realize it was no big deal,” she says.
Renada is from Pataskala, and has had 6 years with the Hines Little Smiles family. She is looking forward to achieving her EFDA. “I have a great boss, I love the kids and being around them all day, and I’m so glad I work in such a happy place,” she says.
When she’s not making sure the kids have great smiles, Renada can be found enjoying her time away from the office with her husband of two years, with whom she is expecting a baby in 2017.
Rod says the best thing about Hines Little Smiles is the practice’s fast pace and the entire staff’s love for children.
A Columbus native, Rod has 10 years of experience in the profession and holds EMT license from Columbus State as well as a CDA license from the Academy of Health Sciences.
Rod is a Freemason and volunteers as a scoutmaster for Cubs and Webelos in the Boy Scouts. He also enjoys fishing and cooking.
Tanya’s day involves many tasks, such as coronal polishing, sealant placing, ordering materials, putting away supplies, and assisting the dentists. “I wanted to help make people’s smiles beautiful, and that starts with kids!” she says. “I love hearing the questions they ask during their oral hygiene instruction.”
Tanya is from Grove City, and has 18 years of experience. She is a nationally board certified dental assistant, and holds a coronal polishing license as well as sealant and radiation certificates. “I love working here – our boss is fabulous and spoils us, and my co-workers are like family!”
When she’s not at work, Tanya volunteers at the Stowe Mission of Central Ohio Dental Clinic. She and her husband of 19 years have a teen daughter, and the family enjoys being out of doors.
Call Center Specialist Abby answers patient calls and makes appointments so patients don’t have to wait on hold for the front desk. “I’m compassionate, and I have great customer service skills,” she says.
From Groveport, Abby is in school to be a lawyer. She says she started working in the dental field when an opportunity presented itself. “Everyone in the practice is very compassionate, loyal, professional, and hardworking!” she says.
Abby loves animals, particularly her 7-month-old greyhound, Lucy. She supports Meals on Wheels, Toys for Tots, and the Red Cross.
Alyssa is responsible for accounts receivable and helping parents coordinate their finances to ensure their children get the best treatment options. “I love working with people and I love math,” she says, adding, “I’m inquisitive, and have an adventurous spirit!”
Originally from Ashland, Alyssa now lives in Columbus. She has 6 years of experience, and completed some college education. She says she entered the dental field for a new opportunity and change of scenery, and quickly came to love the people and kids in the practice.
When she’s not finding creative solutions, Alyssa supports the Race for the Cure, Hunt for Hope, Strides for Hope, and Moving Day. She also participates in the St Jude’s Pediatric Center Run Walk. Alyssa is married and has a baby at home.
Ariana helps keep the practice running by managing appointment scheduling and answering patient questions. “I like meeting new people and being positive!”
Ariana is from Ashville, and graduated from the Paul Mitchell School of Cosmetology. “I’m all about a great smile,” she says, adding that everyone at the practice is super helpful.
When she’s not being an amazing front desk attendant, Ariana enjoys being an amazing aunt to her nephew, Brayden Michael.
Ashley’s job is to consult with parents and dental specialists and schedule patients for their dental surgeries. “I love working with people and especially with the kids,” she says. “The kids are the best part of the job!”
Originally from Mt. Sterling but now living in Circleville, Ashley has 9 years of experience, with 5 of those years spent scheduling for an ENT. “I got a chance for a new opportunity with a twist on my surgical experience,” she says of her move to Hines Little Smiles.
When she’s not ensuring the surgical appointments flow smoothly, Ashley is active in her church where her husband serves as worship leader, and chasing down the couple’s three boys, whom she refers to as “the Kirk brothers”.
Chelsee is responsible for inputting insurance payments, recording denied and pending claims, handling billing issues, and working with insurance companies.
Originally from Columbus, OH, Chelsee now lives in Ashville. She has 12 years of experience, and says she originally started working in the dental industry thanks to a good opportunity coming open. “My personality and dedication to deadlines was a plus, and I love the mutual respect between everyone here,” she says.
Chelsee is married, with four children, a daughter in law, and 1 grandson. She enjoys scrapbooking in her free time, and also supports Autism Awareness, Hunt for Hope, and Moving Day.
Jennifer is responsible for presenting treatment options to parents and helping them determine the best path forward for their child’s future dental care. “I’m a people person. I love meeting and learning about people and their families, and I love kids!”
From Centerburg, Jennifer says she decided 8 years ago she wanted a new career and set out to become a dental assistant. “I love the kindness and compassion here at Hines Little Smiles,” she says.
When she’s not coordinating patient care, Jennifer enjoys spending time with her 18-year-old son, her fiancée’, and her parents and grandparents. “I love my family!”
Jessi is our enthusiastic Office Manager. She works diligently every day to make our office the happy place it is for patients, parents, and our team! "Kids rock!" is her mantra. When asked what she loves best about her job, she replies, "I just love working with Dr. Hines and the amazing team we have here at Hines Little Smiles."
Jessi is involved with the Ronald McDonald House, Hunt for Hope, Autism Awareness, and the annual Turkey Trot that supports her local food pantry. She loves to cook and read, and actively supports her daughter’s gymanstics efforts with her partner.
Krystal schedules appointments and coordinates treatments, goes over treatment plans with parents, and covers financial responsibilities with them as well.
A Carroll, OH, native, Krystal says the dental field has always intrigued her, and she finds the innovations amazing. She is also a trained dental assistant, and says “I have a personable character, which you definitely need in this field!”
When she’s not working with kids and their parents, Krystal is spending time with her family, friends, and says she enjoys shopping and being out of doors with her dog, whom she refers to as “my fur baby!” She also supports the ASPCA.
Megan wears dual hats as a receptionist and data entry specialist, and also answers phones, orders supplies, and greets patients as they arrive.
From Ashville, OH, Megan earned an LSCC Associate’s Degree at Ohio University, has 2 years’ experience in childcare and is working towards a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications. She enjoys being able to apply her experience with children in the dental setting. “Our practice is like a family – patients and employees are all valued!”
Megan enjoys listening to music, playing with her dog, Winnie, hanging out with friends and family, and studying people and how they interact. She also is active in her church and tries to help out with the Faith Mission in Columbus.
Tiffany’s many tasks include organizing office events, managing the practice’s Facebook Page, taking care of internal marketing, and organizing community events. “I love working and interacting with people, and reaching out to the community!”
Tiffany was born and lives in Columbus, and attended some college followed by continuing education to stay sharp for her job. She says working for a dental practice was originally a surprise, but the opportunity presented itself and she loves being part of a fun, friendly, kid and family oriented environment.
An avid supporter of various charities, including Hunt for Hope, Moving Day, Children’s Hunger Alliance, Volunteers of America, and Operation Gratitude, Tiffany has been married for 7 years to her husband, Paul. The couple has two bloodhounds, Abe and Ellie Mae.
Sam checks insurance coverage for surgical patients, schedules surgery appointments, and ensures charts are ready and waiting for the doctor on surgery day. “Since high school, I wanted to help people. Several family members were in the dental field, and inspired me!”
From Groveport, OH, Samantha has 3 years of experience. She says the best thing about the practice is getting to work with kids every day; “They truly make every day great!” Samantha says her compassion and her attention to detail make her a perfect fit for her job.
When she’s not steering the surgery schedule, Samantha can be found playing co-ed softball, spending time with her toddler son, and supporting Hunt for Hope, Operation Backpack, and Rock N Bowl.
Summer spends each day scheduling appointments for patients of Hines Little Smiles. She says connections to an employee encouraged her to join the team.
From Grove City, Summer completed her high school diploma. She says the best things about her job are her team members and the positive environment.
Summer spends her time away from the phone with her husband and son, and enjoys snowboarding. She also supports the ASPCA.
